There are many different safety features on the office liquid nitrogen generator that help to prevent the misuse and accidental contact with the liquid nitrogen. Most of the office liquid nitrogen generation systems require that a key is inserted and engaged before the dispenser will dispense any liquid nitrogen. The key ensure that only authorized personal is able to access the liquid nitrogen. Once the key is inserted, the approved container must be placed under the nozzle. If the container is not placed under the nozzle, no liquid nitrogen will be dispensed. This helps to prevent the accidental freezing of a person's hands or other extremities. A button must then be pushed to dispense the liquid. The liquid nitrogen will stop being delivered immediately after the button is released. There is no automatic dispersion of the liquid nitrogen by most generators.

There is no chemical difference or purity difference between the liquid nitrogen dispensed from a liquid nitrogen generator and the liquid nitrogen that is delivered. The major advantage between the generated liquid nitrogen is that the facility is able to control all contact with the nitrogen and therefore can eliminate the chances of contamination. With delivered liquid nitrogen, there is a higher possibility of water and particle contamination as it is transferred from a large vat into a smaller container. This transfer can occur several times before the liquid nitrogen makes it into the office.
